Fashion Pakistan Week Spring / Summer 2017

Posted on March 27 2017

This year Fashion Pakistan week was held in Karachi showcasing gorgeous spring/summer collection 2017 by some of the most talented designers in the Fashion industry. The two-day event buzzed with excitement and fun. The runway was filled with stunning couture adorned by renowned celebrity showstoppers such as Syra Shehroz, Javaid Sheikh and Imran Abbas who proudly represented their allocated designer collection. We saw lots of embellished gowns, Party Wear Lehengas, light summery capes, sophisticated men’s blazers and hair accessories being showcased at the runway. Though the entire event was spectacular, we have picked out those aspects which caught our eye from FPW 2017.

Day 1:

Ayesha Farook Hashwani opened the show with her ‘Cruise Collection’ in which blue was a dominating color scheme. The collection unveiled striking patterns on pants, crop tops, and capes. It was a very fresh take on designs and cuts.

Tena Durrani showcased her simple and yet sophisticated collection and the dress that caught our attention was worn by none other than Syra Shehroz, a stunning strapless peach full-length gown perfect for a friend’s daytime wedding. A very fresh alternative for the usual Party Wear Lehenga!

We loved FnkAsia intricate handcrafted hair accessories which were a part of their collection ‘Avian’.

The next in line was Zaheer Abbas’s collection which incorporated dark shades with minimal embroidery. The piece which we listed the most was the plain blue chiffon sari with delicate gold work on the sheer sleeves which emphasized clean lines and timelessness. We noticed that blue is definitely the color of this season.

At the men’s end, we saw Javed Sheikh walk down the runway wearing a clean white Shalwar Kameez with a fitted black waistcoat with minimal gold detailing. Taimor also appeared in a long black sherwani jacket with a long slit at the center and pairing it quite nicely with cream trousers.

Day 2:

Day 2 kicked off with yet another batch of stunning collection by the Pakistani Designers starting off with Nida Azwer’s ‘Khalari’ collection which was inspired by cultural heritage. The collection showcased beautifully embroidered ghararas and dupattas made from organza and silk and embellished with intricate motifs.

Munib Nawaz collection was yet again outstanding, featuring men’s tailored bomber jackets paired with denim shirt style kameez. Very innovative and practical, Good job Munib!

Yet another designer whose collection we loved was Zuria Dor’s who focused on flowy silhouettes and using calming tones in her dresses. The collection was named ‘Tropical Romanticism’.

The Pink Tree Company also had a very interesting and vibrant collection presenting fresh color combos. There were Party Wear Lehengas, pants, tops, flowy dresses and so much more in this collection.

Jeem’s unique collection showcased a combination of traditional techniques with chic styles inspired to form the west. We loved the gold mid-length retro dress with black beaded work on the neck which continued down to the waist.

Amator collection wowed the crowd with their breezy net lace gowns in pastel shades and floral embroidery. A perfect combination of femininity and summer!

The FPW 2017 ended on a great note and showcased stunning new pieces and cuts and less bridal outfits.
