Indian designers Kulsum Shadab Wahab and Dhruv Kapoor win big in Milan Fashion Week

Posted on March 01 2019

Both Indian designers Kulsum Shadab Wahab and Dhruv Kapoor were able to secure first and second position at the Fashion Hub Market Prize and gave the nation a moment to be very proud of.

The most delightful moment of the Milan Fashion Week was when these two designers brought home not one, but two wins from the fashion capital of the world. Ara Lumiere’s intricate scarves has the social angle as they were made by the acid attack survivors. Perhaps, that’s what lead us to the label’s win.

When Vogue talked to Shadab Wahab, he stated “With this win we will be able to stock at all the best shops in Italy. This is huge for a label like ours and it can’t get much bigger than this. This kind of visibility and acceptability in society for our acid attack survivors is important and it is so great that they got an international platform.”

The designers were competing for the prize with 12 brands from different countries like SEoul, Paris, China, Ukraine, and Romania. The other designer from India, Dhruv Kapoor, acquired the second position at the Fashion Hub Market.
